Teixeira Duarte finishes the rehabilitation work of the North Pier of the Port of Viana do Castelo

Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções, S.A. concluded, last October, the “Repair and Reinforcement Contract of the North Pier of the Port of Viana do Castelo between PK 880 and PK 1150″.

With 2,170 meters in length, the North Pier – for the protection of the Port of Viana do Castelo – is a structure of downloadable slopes, which has a concrete walkway. The contract included the reinforcement of the existing slopes and the repair of the concrete sidewalk in all extensions damaged as a result of the bad weather.

This contract was the first of four interventions planned for the rehabilitation of the mentioned Pier, being of extreme importance, because it mainly ensures the safety issues of this port infrastructure, with growing importance in the economic activity of Portugal and the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula.

The work, under the responsibility of the Geotechnics and Rehabilitation | Maritime works of Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções, S.A., was completed on time and within budget, also contributing to customer satisfaction.

Daule-Guayaquil bridge inaugurated in Ecuador

The bridge between the cities of Daule and Guayaquil, Ecuador, was inaugurated in a formal ceremony on October 19th. Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções, S.A. has taken a very important part in the consortium responsible for the work, which will benefit some 30,000 people who live in more than 20 municipalities of Daule, and who will have faster access to Guayaquil.

Teixeira Duarte announces (unaudited) results for 2019

“Teixeira Duarte, S.A.”, the leading company of the Teixeira Duarte Group, where Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções. S.A. belongs, informed today that, during the process of account closing for the 2019 financial year, it has already determined some consolidated figures, considered opportune to be disclose to the market, before the final approval of the financial statements for that year, which are expected to be published next April 29th, together with the documents of the supervisory bodies and other elements for the Annual General Meeting.

Teixeira Duarte celebrates the World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development

Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções, SA promoted, on March 4, a seminar on the theme “Engineering: the key to Sustainable Development”, also marking the World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development, thus proclaimed by UNESCO in November 2019.

The event aimed to reinforce the awareness of its employees to the global goals in the scope of Sustainable Development, in which Engineering plays a fundamental role.

The seminar was attended by three guest speakers: Manuel Pinheiro, degree and Phd in Environmental Engineering, with addition to the Instituto Superior Técnico, Helena Gervásio, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Coimbra, and Jorge de Brito, PhD, Full Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Geo-resources of Instituto Superior Técnico.

Teixeira Duarte, whose origin and purpose is to be an “Engineering House”, thanks everyone who attended this event, in particular the guest speakers who, with their collaboration, enriched the initiative beyond our expectations.

Hercílio Luz Bridge reopens to the public 28 years later

As a result of a structural rehabilitation work carried out by Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções, S.A., the Hercílio Luz Bridge reconnected the mainland and the island of Florianópolis from this Monday, December 30th.

This bridge, inaugurated in 1926 and interdicted in 1991, underwent a complete rehabilitation process, which included the replacement of the structural bearing of the main towers, the reinforcement and rehabilitation of foundations, the rehabilitation of the steel structure, the replacement of eye bars, cells and swing bolts, including load transfer work, and the application of new road, pedestrian and cycle decks.

28 years later, the Hercílio Luz Bridge reopens to the public, following a phased schedule of vehicle traffic clearance in the structure, disclosed and supervised by the Florianópolis City Hall.

The reopening ceremony began at 10 am on Monday and features commemorative events until next Sunday, January 5, including several musical and cultural attractions. You can follow the festivities here, through the “NDMais” website.
