Arch is the New Teixeira Duarte Business Unit Dedicated to Medium-Sized Projects

Combining close client relationships with the know-how of a historic reference in the sector, ARCH focuses on the Residential, Industrial, Retail and Services segments

Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções has launched ARCH by Teixeira Duarte, a business unit dedicated to the construction of medium-sized projects in the Residential, Industrial, Retail and Services segments. The creation of ARCH represents a strategic step for the Group in the construction sector, where it is traditionally recognised for delivering large-scale projects.

Maintaining the values of its parent brand – Ingenuity, Truth and Commitment – ARCH brings together an experienced, agile and multidisciplinary team prepared to respond to the specific needs of these segments. This structure stands out for its personalised approach to projects and its close relationship with clients throughout every stage of the construction process. The ARCH team draws on the different technical capabilities of Teixeira Duarte, benefiting from the Group’s engineering capacity, established processes and the experience accumulated over more than 100 years.

“The market has evolved significantly and Teixeira Duarte is increasingly being called upon to deliver projects with broader and more demanding requirements. In this context, we wanted to create a unit dedicated to projects of up to medium scale. ARCH’s objective is to bring to this level the technical know-how and the quality that characterise projects built by Teixeira Duarte,” says Miguel Talone, Board Member of Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções, S.A.. ARCH operates in three segments: Residential, focusing on mid- to high-end construction as well as rehabilitation projects that contribute to urban regeneration; Industrial, by creating, modernising and expanding infrastructures suited to technically demanding environments; and Retail and Services, through the development of spaces that strengthen brands’ positioning and help them achieve their objectives.

“We maintain the rigour and the mission of ‘doing things well’, with a structure designed to respond to new client profiles and project types. At ARCH we believe in a close and detail-oriented approach, where each project is developed with purpose and high standards, adding tangible value to what we deliver,” says Micael Rito, General Director of ARCH. The new unit also reinforces the value of the Teixeira Duarte brand, recognised for its reliability, quality of execution and strict adherence to deadlines in highly complex projects. With ARCH, these same high standards are now applied across a wider range of projects, ensuring high levels of specialisation. With operations already underway and its own ARCH aims to demonstrate that the Group’s excellence can be applied to projects of all sizes, creating value for every client.

Colombo Project Featured in “Expresso” Newspaper

Colombo’s new offices are being built from the top down” is the headline of the article published this week in Expresso’s newspaper, following a recent interview conducted by the weekly publication with the Client and the Project Director, our colleague André Santiago Neves.

This project stands out for its high level of technical complexity and for the absolutely unique context in which it is being carried out. It involves a new large-scale tower suspended from steel arches above a major shopping centre that remains fully operational, within a highly sensitive urban environment — an unprecedented challenge.

The project is being delivered by a consortium led by Teixeira Duarte, responsible for overall planning, technical coordination, and the implementation of working methodologies and systems throughout all phases of the structural works.

From a construction perspective, the project incorporates a set of complex technical solutions that reflect its innovative character. Particular highlights include the execution methodology for micropiles, tailored to the existing structural constraints, and the use of climbing formwork erected above the shopping centre. All project preparation was supported by BIM methodology, enabling coordination with existing structures and a high level of precision, while optimising processes and minimising resource use.

Regarding Teixeira Duarte’s performance on this project, André Santiago Neves notes:
“From a broader analysis of our company’s overall involvement in this project, we believe it clearly leaves behind a legacy that should be regarded as a case study for the construction sector in Portugal. This project, which we developed and of which we are proud, allowed us to surpass ourselves at every stage of its development and to understand that, by focusing on the diversity of expertise across our various departments, we are able to respond effectively to the most demanding challenges. This project shows us that there are no impossibilities. It is the perfect project to reinforce confidence in national engineering and construction, and we believe we are more than prepared to respond to highly demanding challenges.”

Teixeira Duarte presente em Congresso de Construção Metálica e Mista

Teixeira Duarte attends the 15th Steel and Composite Construction Congress

Teixeira Duarte participated in the 15th Steel and Composite Construction Congress promoted by Associação Portuguesa de Construção Metálica e Mista (CMM) on 20 and 21 November in Porto. The event, which was attended by 800 participants, had as its main objective to disseminate the latest innovations and achievements in this type of construction, seeking to contribute decisively to the promotion, consolidation and expansion of the sector.

The 1st Facade Engineering Congress was also held as part of this edition.

Teixeira Duarte was present as a sponsor and participated in various parts of the programme.

Administrator Miguel Talone took part in one of the first sessions – ‘Economy Session’ – to present Teixeira Duarte’s vision for the future of metallurgy.

Noteworthy technical and scientific contributions include the submission of articles and presentations on the rehabilitation of the Hercílio Luz Bridge, on special metal stirrups for reinforcing and rehabilitating existing bridge foundations, and on the rehabilitation and structural reinforcement of critical industrial infrastructure based on BIM methodology: efficiency, safety and performance in ATEX environments.

The case study of the Hercílio Luz Bridge in Florianópolis (Brazil) was also highlighted in an article published by Jornal Económico: ‘How Portugal’s Teixeira Duarte rehabilitated a 100-year-old bridge in Brazil’. Almost a century old, this historic bridge underwent extensive and demanding work carried out by Teixeira Duarte over a period of more than three years.

Participating in a conference of this magnitude, which showcases the best in the sector, reinforces Teixeira Duarte’s commitment to engineering and building solutions that make an impact, preserve heritage and strengthen communities.

Teixeira Duarte’s Construction Division gathered in Portugal for the 2025 “Team Summit”

The Construction sector of the Teixeira Duarte Group held its 2025 “Team Summit” on 16 and 17 October – an event that brought together more than 350 employees from all areas and companies within the division.

Under the motto “We Change Together”, the event aimed to strengthen cohesion, knowledge sharing, and the sense of belonging among the various teams. Over two days, participants took part in technical presentations, best practice exchanges, and moments of team building and social interaction that encouraged dialogue and cross-functional collaboration.

The messages “One Single Constructor” and “Together we are Stronger” set the tone for the gathering, underscoring the importance of teamwork and unity in meeting the challenges of the sector and achieving shared objectives.

The 2025 Team Summit therefore reaffirmed Teixeira Duarte’s commitment to valuing its people, technical excellence, and the consolidation of an organisational culture based on cooperation, innovation, and commitment.

“Fábrica 1921” Wins Construir 2025 Award – Real Estate – Best Residential Building

The “Fábrica 1921” residential project, promoted and built by the Teixeira Duarte Group, has been chosen as the winner of the Construir 2025 Awards in the category Real Estate – Residential Building.

The winners of the competition were announced yesterday, 14 October, at an event that brought together companies and professionals from the sectors of architecture, engineering, construction, and real estate, in Lisbon. The full list of awardees can be found here.

It is worth recalling that “Fábrica 1921” had already been distinguished in the “City of Lisbon” category of the National Urban Rehabilitation Award (PNRU) 2023, as well as in the Urban Rehabilitation – Housing Segment category at the SIL Awards 2025.

The recognition of “Fábrica 1921” among the projects that have most contributed to the urban enhancement of Lisbon – and particularly of the Benfica neighbourhood – brings special pride to all the teams who, with enthusiasm and dedication, took part in the project throughout all its phases.
