The mission and values of Teixeira Duarte particularly the “Commitment” value, reflect the Company’s concern for Social Responsibility. This is also reinforced by the principles and rules laid down in the Code of Ethics and Conduct, which particularly applies to human capital, and by the sustainability vision and model that restates the intention of contributing to the development of communities.
The certification of the Social Responsibility Management System, obtained during the year 2009, appears, therefore, as a natural corollary of these practices, demonstrating compliance with the reference standard requirements in this matter, the SA 8000. Within the scope of support for social projects and social charity organisations, it should be noted that Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções, S. A. has intended to adopt an institutionalised position through initiatives that are neither exclusive nor centralised in decisions by the Board of Directors, but rather involve all of its employees in direct actions.
It was with this aim in mind that, in 2015, Teixeira Duarte’s TODOS DAMOS programme, a project designed for all Group companies, which aims to support people through the co-funding of charity institutions supported directly by its own employees.
The maximum amount of donations defined for the TODOS DAMOS Program in 2022 was 150,000.00 €, of which 100,000.00 € were provided by the companies of the Teixeira Duarte Group and the rest by the respective employees.
In 2021, a total of 64 applications were accepted in Portugal, Angola and Brazil. 59.103,00 € were collected between employee donations and company donations, which benefited 40 institutions in these countries.
Institutions wishing to appear on the database of the TODOS DAMOS programme, to raise awareness of them among Teixeira Duarte Group company employees and to facilitate their identification during any support processes, may submit their data on the form available here.
In Angola, where the percentage of voluntary blood donations is quite low, Teixeira Duarte identified that many of its employees are directly or indirectly faced with a potential unavailability of blood at some point in their lives. Therefore, in 2019, the Company launched a social responsibility programme aimed at encouraging regular voluntary blood donation among employees, making them aware of the importance of voluntary blood donation and providing them with the conditions for effective donation, through technical partnerships with institutions such as the National Blood Institute and the Sagrada Esperança Clinic.
Since then, the programme has been adopted by several companies of the Teixeira Duarte Group in Angola and extended to Mozambique, with employees donating blood to help save the lives of about 1,000 people.
