TAGUS RIVER BRIDGE (25TH APRIL)

This work was characterized by the following activities:
- Structural reinforcement of the bridge including installation of two secondary suspension cables parallel to, and some 3.5m above, existing ones, reinforcing the stress-beams and construction of new exterior anchorage points alongside existing ones on Av. India and on the Tagus river southern embankment.
- Construction of the twin track railway deck inside the stress beams and respective catenaries as well as all signalling and control systems.
- Widening of the road deck to six lanes.
- General improvements to the existing structure including stripping and total repainting.
- Replacement of existing decorative, traffic and aircraft warning lights.
- Construction of rail deck under the Alcântara viaduct road deck to support the railway link.
- General improvement to the road deck on the Alcântara viaduct with removal of some oscillation joints and replacement of others.
