Teixeira Duarte carries out a contract for the expansion of Clínica Sagrada Esperança, in Luanda

Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções S.A. will carry out, under an EPC (“Engineering, Procurement and Construction”) regime, the work to expand the current hospital infrastructure of Clínica Sagrada Esperança on the Island of Luanda, in Angola. The contract, whose start is scheduled for the last quarter of 2023, has an execution period of 32 months. The project involves the construction of various infrastructures, including a new hospital building adjacent to the existing facilities, which will be able to accommodate up to 140 beds, 5 operating theaters and other specialized areas, such as intensive care units, laboratory and emergency department.

The project also includes the construction of a parking building with 451 spaces for customers and employees, 24 residences for doctors, support areas (such as a cafeteria and kitchen), a technical area and a wastewater treatment plant with the capacity to serve the entire the hospital complex and existing housing in the area surrounding the Clinic.

The knowledge acquired by Teixeira Duarte in the long relationship it maintains with Clínica Sagrada Esperança was fundamental for the development of the functional plan and consequent design of the project, and will be essential to guarantee that the regular operations of the Clinic’s existing facilities are not impaired during execution. of this new venture.

Teixeira Duarte signs contract for the execution of works to improve Cape Verde Airports

Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções S.A. signed, in a consortium, an EPC (“Engineering, Procurement and Construction”) contract with Cabo Verde Airports, S.A. – entity created by Vinci and in which ANA participates -, to carry out the improvement works at Amílcar Cabral Airport (Sal Island), Nelson Mandela Airport (Santiago Island), Cesária Évora Airport (São Vicente Island), Aristides Pereira Airport (Boavista Island ) and the Aerodromes Preguiça (Island of São Nicolau), Maio (Island of Maio) and São Filipe (Island of Fogo).

The consortium, led by Teixeira Duarte, has Alves Ribeiro S.A. as a partner, having agreed a contract for the value of 70.7 million Euros and with an execution period of 24 months. It is expected that, after the development of the Execution Project and its approval, the works will start in January 2024.

The concession contract that Cabo Verde Airports, S.A. signed with the Cape Verdean state in July 2022 and from which the EPC contract now signed, also includes other phases of modernization and expansion to be carried out subsequently, with a total investment of 928 million Euros expected over the next 40 years.

Closing of the Mobilizing Project REV@CONSTRUCTION led by Teixeira Duarte

On June 27th, the event marked the end of the Mobilizing Project “Digital Construction Revolution – REV@CONSTRUCTION”, led and co-promoted by Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções, S.A..

The conference took place at the Pavilhão do Conhecimento, in Lisbon, and was attended by public and private entities from the AEC sector, who came together to discuss “The Digital Construction Revolution in Portugal” and have first-hand access to the results of the innovations carried out by the work groups throughout the REV@CONSTRUCTION. The closing remarks for this session were delivered by Dr. Manuel Maria Teixeira Duarte, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Teixeira Duarte.

With a transversal approach to the entire construction industry, the development of REV@CONSTRUCTION was based on fundamental pillars of R&D: a consistent methodological approach, partners with recognized and complementary technical-scientific knowledge, integrative management and coordination and a strong connection to the industry , able to guarantee the adequate specification of the problems and a development oriented to the real needs. The overall investment in the Project was around 8.5 million euros, with the corresponding amount for the Teixeira Duarte Group being around 1.3 million euros.

Products, Processes and Services developed within this project:

  • DIGI4Construction – development of a national digital platform for construction, with a pilot application BIM4Bridges, involving Infraestruturas de Portugal, S.A.;
  • Digital Twin for AEC – treatment of design/construction data, with pilot applications, namely paving 4.0 (Mota-Engil) and concreting 4.0 (Teixeira Duarte);
  • RCM4Assets – Digital Twin for Operation and Maintenance / Asset Management, predictive maintenance (Coordination Teixeira Duarte and TDGI);
  • Integration of all solutions with full-scale demonstrative projects (“Living Lab”), including BIM4Bridges using RCM4Assets concepts and,
  • Project Management and Communication.

“Fábrica 1921” development wins the City of Lisbon category of the National Urban Rehabilitation Prize

The residential project “Fábrica 1921”, promoted and built by the Teixeira Duarte Group, was the winner of the “City of Lisbon” category of the National Urban Rehabilitation Prize (PNRU) 2023, in an award ceremony that took place on the 30th of May, at the Palácio Nacional da Ajuda.

In this 11th edition of the PNRU, 67 projects from mainland Portugal and Madeira competed, with nine projects being distinguished in 10 different categories.

The National Prize for Urban Rehabilitation is an initiative by Vida Imobiliária and Promevi, which «aims to distinguish urban interventions of greater value to society in their multiple valences. The contribution to the qualification of cities and their impact on the community, success measured by market acceptance, impact and social value, the ability to induce change in the urban fabric.»

The recognition of “Fábrica 1921” in the context of interventions that most contributed to the urban qualification of Lisbon, and in particular of the Benfica neighbourhood, brings special pride to all the teams that, with enthusiasm and hard work, participated in the project in all its phases.
