Teixeira Duarte recognizes that innovation starts with its people. To this end, the 1st edition of the Ideas Competition was held, open to all Group employees.
Under the theme “Transformation for a Better World”, employees were challenged to submit proposals with the potential to be integrated into Research, Development and Innovation projects, contributing to more sustainable and inclusive products, processes, services and business models.
The 1st edition was a success and saw a very positive response from employees, so the 2nd edition is already being prepared! World Environment Day was celebrated on June 5th, the main objective of which is to raise awareness in society about the importance of preserving natural resources, encouraging governments, companies and citizens to focus their efforts on pressing environmental issues.
In 2025, the theme chosen by the UN was “Combating Plastic Pollution”, aiming to raise awareness of the growing crisis caused by disposable plastics and microplastics, which affect ecosystems, biodiversity and human health.
With a corporate culture that integrates environmental protection into its daily practices, the Group mobilized teams from the most diverse sectors and markets to reinforce that combating pollution depends on small responsible choices made every day — on site, in the office, at home or on the street.
Multiple awareness-raising initiatives were promoted with the aim of reinforcing the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling plastics among employees. Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções has also joined the UN global campaign, registering its participation on the initiative’s official website.
Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções attended the “Defence Tech Meetup #3” event held on May 27th at the Auditorium of the Southern Region Engineers Association. Teixeira Duarte participated in the Defense Innovation Challenges Panel, as the Company is a co-promoter of the SHELTER project, together with the Instituto Superior Técnico, represented by Professor João Gomes Ferreira.
Designed to protect human life in the event of an earthquake, SHELTER has features that give it the potential to be used in the defense industry, and was therefore one of the innovations highlighted at this technical meeting.
World Day for Safety and Health at Work, celebrated on April 28, is a date established by the International Labour Organization (ILO) to promote the prevention of work-related accidents and illnesses, as well as to raise awareness among decision-makers and civil society about the importance of worker safety and health.
With a deeply rooted corporate culture of combating risks, Teixeira Duarte marks World Day for Safety and Health at Work annually, promoting multiple initiatives for reflection and involvement in its various markets that aim to strengthen the culture of prevention among employees.
For Teixeira Duarte, safety is not just the adoption of standards or compliance with procedures. Safety is a conscious choice, expressed in every attitude of attention, in every responsible decision and, above all, in the non-negotiable commitment to protect life.
