Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções, S.A. Sucursal Angola was distinguished as the best Civil Construction company in the 1st Edition of the HSE Awards Angola 2024, for its commitment to safety and health at work.

The HSE Awards Angola aim to honor companies that continually invest in the protection and well-being of their employees, leading their respective sectors with their practices at this level. In 2024, companies from the Civil Construction, Oil and Gas, Manufacturing Industry, Geology and Mining and Logistics competed in this competition.

The jury panel was made up of representatives from the General Labor Inspectorate (IGT) and the Management of the Angolan Association of Occupational Safety and Health (AASSO).

The Municipal Council of Figueira da Foz awarded Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções the Medal of Industrial Merit, Silver-Gold grade, distinguishing it for its contribution to the success of the rehabilitation project of the Monastery of Santa Maria de Seiça, a national monument and deep historical and cultural significance. The public tribute ceremony took place last Sunday, January 26th, one year after the rehabilitated monument was opened to the public.

The Municipality also distinguished the Atelier 15 architecture firm with the Medal of technical-scientific merit.

Representing Teixeira Duarte, Manuel Maria Teixeira Duarte, expressed gratitude for the distinction awarded: «Teixeira Duarte feels very honored. Very honored by the unusualness of the act, by the generosity of the recognition. On behalf of Teixeira Duarte and its Collaborators, thank you very much.”.

During the occasion, two plaques were also unveiled in honor of Atelier 15 and Teixeira Duarte, with the ceremony ending with a visit to the Monastery.

A team from Teixeira Duarte visited, on January 16th, the CIMPOR Museum at the Alhandra Production Center, the first cement factory to be built from scratch in Portugal (1894). The initiative took place as part of the execution of the civil works contract that Teixeira Duarte is carrying out to upgrade the Line 7 Furnace of this facility.

This CIMPOR investment project is part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and aims to implement a series of improvements that will allow the decarbonization of more than 190 thousand tons of CO2 per year, by the end of 2025. This initiative reinforces CIMPOR’s commitment to reduce CO2 emissions by around 37% by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050.

The CIMPOR Museum, opened in 2011, testifies to the historical, industrial and heritage significance of the former «Tejo» Cement Factory, founded by António Teófilo Araújo Rato. The Museum is divided into two sections: the old Hoffmann furnace building (1894) and the old laboratory (1932). Along the museum route, an old pulp mill also stands out.

The CIMPOR Museum can be visited by prior appointment.

Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construções, S.A. (TD-EC) obtained certification by the international standard ISO 27001:2022 for its Information Security Management System, being the first entity in the national Top5 of construction companies to achieve the aforementioned certification.

The Teixeira Duarte Group promoted, on November 8th, an event that brought together more than 320 employees from the Group’s companies in the Construction sector in Portugal, namely Teixeira Duarte – Engenharia e Construção, SOMAFEL and EPOS.

Under the motto “We Change Together”, the program included the sharing of relevant content about the companies’ activities and some case studies, in addition to a lecture by Prof. Jorge Sequeira, who brought to reflection several principles about team management and leadership.

The next edition of “Team Day” is scheduled for June 2025.
