REHABILITATION WORKS OF THE EAST PIER OF TAVIRA PORT

This project comprised the execution of the rehabilitation maritime works of the east pier of Tavira Port. Dredging of sand and rock-fills, execution of rock-fill prism foundations to support the resistant mantles of the pier, prefabrication of 150 kN “Antifer” blocks and their tidy placement on the pier head, removal of the 96 kN “Tetrapode” concrete elements from the pier head and their relocation on the structure; coating of the port’s entrance channel with a selected rock-fill mat.
The total length of the pier is about 350 metres; however, only the last 50 metres have been intervened.

The works were carried out from level -15,00m (ZH) to the crest level +5,00m (ZH)
They took place in the Cabanas de Tavira Island and all equipment and materials were transported by pontoon and tugboat between Tavira and the provisional dock implemented in the island
