REHABILITATION OF THE EASTERN MOLE OF THE PORT OF TAVIRA

Execution of the maritime works for the rehabilitation of the eastern mole of Tavira port. Dredging of sand and rockfill, execution of foundations in rockfill prisms to support the mole’s resistant layers, prefabrication of 150 kN “Antifer” blocks and adequate placement in the mole’s head, removal of 96 kN “Tetrapods” from the mole’s head and placement in the body and coating of the entrance canal with a mat of selected rockfill. The total length of the mole is approximately 350 meters; the intervention occurred in the last 50 meters. The works were carried out from level -15,00m (ZH) to the capping level +5,00m (ZH). The project was carried out in the island Cabanas de Tavira and all the equipment and material was transported using a barge and a tugboat between Tavira and the provisional quay built in the island.

Dredging: 7.000 m³
Removal of rockfill: 1.840 m³
“Antifer” concrete blocks: 1.600 m³
Handling of “Tetrapods”: 300 unit
Placement of “Antifer” blocks: 257 unit
Supply and application of rockfill: 10.500 m³
