Client: Brisa – Auto-Estradas de Portugal, S.A.
Location: Alcácer do Sal – Portugal
Conclusion Year: 1999

Contract Design / Build for the bridge over Sado river and access viaduct, integrated in the sub-section Alcácer do Sal / Grândola (North), A2 – South Motorway, Portugal.
The viaduct is composed of 2 decks structurally independent, in reinforced concrete longitudinally prestressed, with a length of approximately 1.450 meters and a width of 37,20 meters, with spans of 44 meters.
The bridge over Sado river has two prestressed reinforced concrete twin decks, each with a section of plain caisson. Its structures have 3 spans with 80+135+75=290 meters.
The double deck also has a total width of 37,20 meters, which corresponds to 18,5 meters each.
The main structure of the caissons has an external width ranging from 9,80 meters to 1,20 meters, and a variable height ranging from 3,60 meters at half span to 8,0 meters over the piers.
The abutments are of traditional type, being the north abutment in closed vault and the south one sacrificial. The foundations, except for the north abutment, are deep foundations, the piles of the bridge with Ø 2000 and Ø 2500 and the viaduct ones Ø 1500.
The piles reach a depth of 55 meters, both in the bridge and in the viaduct.
