Construction of the new 18-Km long River Tagus crossing in Lisbon, divided into 7 construction areas listed below in north-south order:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Sacav\u00e9m and E.N.10 relief road junctions
\nThese include a large number of viaducts and reconnection of existing access roads.<\/p>\n

\u2022 North Viaduct
\nSome 560 metres long, crossing the CP northern railway line and various local access roads. The deck width varies to incorporate connections to access roads.<\/p>\n

\u2022 EXPO Viaduct
\nThis comprises a pre-stressed reinforced concrete deck with 670 metres of double trapezoidal section, constructed with pre-fabricated segments.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Main Bridge
\nA anchored bridge with a 420-metre main span and two lateral 205-metre spans, standing at a maximum height of 45 metres above the water surface. Its 150-metre high concrete towers were scaled taking into account any eventual impact from ships.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Central Viaduct
\nThis 6.5 Km viaduct crosses sand flats and two small navigation channels. Its height varies but for most of its length the deck is less than 14 metres above the water surface. 78-metre long, pre-fabricated concrete girders supported by columns set on pile foundations were used in its construction.<\/p>\n

\u2022 South Viaduct and Access Roads
\nThe South Viaduct is 3840 metres long and has 45-metre spans between columns. The foundations are set on piles of \u00d8 1800 mm and \u00d8 2000 mm which reach 65 metres deep. 4 launch girders were used to build the deck.
\nConstruction of the access to the South Viaduct included 655,000 m2 of landfill.<\/p>\n

\u2022 South Junction
\nThe crossing ends at the so-called South Junction. This junction gives access to the A12 motorway – with connections to Set\u00fabal, Spain or Algarve – and to the Regional Ring of Coina – with connections to Barreiro and Montijo\/Alcochete.<\/p>\n
